Teresa Giudice Is Teaching Exercise Classes and Manning the Kitchen in Prison
Teresa Giudice is making the most of her time in prison.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star has spent the last four of her 15-month sentence “adjusting well” to life behind bars.
Her lawyer tells People magazine she has found a few hobbies and even a new job during her stay at the Danbury correctional facility.
“She is helping to teach exercise classes,” says her attorney, James J. Leonard Jr. “The women take turns leading classes and she has her little group, so once in a while she takes the lead.”
And when she’s not staying in shape, she’s helping out in the kitchen (she’s like a real-life Red!). “Teresa has a job working in the kitchen,” the lawyer adds. “She told me she enjoys it because it helps her pass the time and allows her to interact with the other inmates. Plus, she loves being in the kitchen, because it reminds her of home.”
While some reports have surfaced saying Giudice has been “acting like a diva” in prison, Leonard promises that’s not at all true.
“Any reports that she is behaving like a diva in prison and not getting along with inmates and the staff is 1,000 percent false,” he says. “She is getting along well with everyone – staff, inmates – all the way down the line.”
In fact, she’s even gained a few new friends behind bars and established her own daily routine.
“Prison is all about establishing and maintaining a routine, and she has done that,” says Leonard. “She has adapted well.”
Giudice was sentenced to 15-months in prison on Oct. 2 2014 for fraud related to a bankruptcy filing in 2009. Her husband Joe Giudice was sentenced to 41 months behind bars, which he will begin upon Teresa’s release in February of 2016.
