WATCH: Ashton Kutcher Proves He Is No Longer a ‘Punk’ With This Surprise Mother’s Day Gift
When “Ashton Kutcher” and “surprise” are combined in the same sentence, the knee-jerk reaction to run for cover. However, our Punk’d-let put aside his trucker hat of trouble to blindsight his mom with a special home makeover.
The wonder child secretly revamped the basement of his childhood home in the first episode of a new web series called My Houzz. The home improvement series is produced in association with Houzz, an online remodeling website of which Kutcher is an investor.
A matured Mr. Mila Kunis wrote off the basement face-lift as a tangible “thank you” for his mom’s undivided support despite hardships that their family faced throughout his adolescence.
My mom has been the greatest influence … My parents gave me everything. They went through great sacrifices to give me the life that I have, and anything I could do to say ‘thank you’ is the right thing to do. If I could make this space special … and just really make it beautiful for her, that would be fulfilling.
Kutcher called on his stepfather, Mark, to assist in the 27-day renovation in a bonding experience to pay tribute to their forever woman crush. The new father confessed that their shared appreciation for Mama Kutch was key in developing their bromance after a divorce that made him wary of new men who tried to enter her life.
When you’re the oldest son, and your parents have gone through a divorce. You’re always mistrustful of any other guy, but Mark stepped in and a lot of ways was there for me in ways my dad couldn’t be there for me. I’m one of those people in this world who’s lucky enough to have two dads. I’m just a blessed person to have that much love in my life.
The remodeled room is grandkid-friendly with bunk beds and plenty of space to serve as ideal camping grounds to set up pillow forts with his daughter, Wyatt. Kutcher also included a salsa cellar for his mom with storage space for her prized family heirlooms.
I think that everybody has a place in their life that they call ‘home’ …. that no matter where you go in the world, or what you see, or what you do, you are drawn to a specific place in your mind.
