Instant Follow Friday: Mariah Carey Brings Infinity and 18 No. 1 Hits to the Vegas Stage
Mariah Carey has finally made her Las Vegas headlining residency debut, an honor bestowed to only the greatest idols in music history.
In honor of her fame and beauty as a chanteuse, Carey is featured as this week’s Instant Follow Friday.
So alongside Britney Spears and (soon again) Celine Dion, the 45-year-old is further imprinting her mark on history as a powerhouse songstress who can command an audience and remind us again and again why she’s a living legend.
It’s true that over the past few years, a lot of judgement has been made about Carey for her seemingly lackadaisical singing, especially when it comes to hitting some super important high notes, performing live, and her reputation as the diva of all divas and whatnot…but the fact that Carey has had 18 No. 1 hits speaks volumes (no pun intended).
Just take one listen to “We Belong Together,” be transported back to circa 2005, pour yourself a glass of red wine, and reflect on some sweet past old flame as Mimi hits those angelic high notes and goes “too deep” with lines like:
“Who am I gonna lean on when times get rough, who’s gonna talk to me ’til the sun comes up, who’s gonna take your place, there ain’t nobody better. Oh baby, baby, we belong together…”
While you’re at it, lambs, peruse the gallery for the best of Mimi’s Instagram, of course.
Aside from her super adorable children with ex-husband Nick Cannon, 4-year-old twins Moroccan Scott and Monroe, Carey shares plenty of #TBT’s to her younger days (though she is looking pretty ageless), behind-the-scenes looks from her performances, and some very festive holiday-grams. She is, after all, a sort of the unofficial Christmas soundtrack for those of us part of a particular ’90s generation.
