Beyoncé’s Met Gala Ponytail Went Up in an Elevator

Beyonce and Jay Z Visit Freddie Gray and Michael Brown's Families
Beyoncé and Jay Z are showing their support for the families of Freddie Gray and Michael Brown.

Sometimes sh*t does go down in an elevator, but more often than not, it’s just a simple touch-up.

Beyoncé‘s hairstylist, Neal Farinah, revealed to UsWeekly that a high ponytail was an en route amendment to the singer’s Bey-dazzled Met Gala look.

According to Farinah, Beyoncé’s hair was originally tightly wound in an “asian-inspired chignon” that she feared might be “too costumey” for the elegant affair.

We were in the elevator on the way down, and she looks at me and says ‘Neal, I want to change my hair, will you change my hair?’ And I said, ‘Honey, there could be cameras in the elevator.’

This is the stylist’s gratuitous reference to sister Solange’s physical altercation after the 2014 Met Gala with Jay Z that inspired a remix of “Flawless” with Nicki Minaj.

Farinah continues,

She says, ‘You have 5 minutes.’ And I said, ‘Girl, what do you want me to do with the hair?’ And she wanted a high ponytail.

Thus, her coiffe fate was sealed.

Beyoncé’s mane man trusts in the diva’s creative instincts after developing a deep relationship through years of collaboration.

She is a powerhouse and she knows what she wants … Beyoncé takes us all out of our comfort zone, and she pushes us to be the most artistic we can be with her.

The sky’s the limit for Queen Bey and her ponytail.
