Jennifer Lopez Opens Up About ‘American Idol’ Cancellation and Dating Casper Smart

Jennifer Lopez made a stunning appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show (airing today), where she made a surprising confession about American Idol’s fate and opened up about her relationship with Casper Smart.

The 45-year-old pop star just announced her Las Vegas residency, in which she’s set to do 40 shows next year (and thereafter as well), while earlier this week, the news broke that next season will also be the last. But Lopez’ reaction to the cancellation was seemingly hopeful.

On whether or not it was time for Idol to come to an end, J. Lo told Degeneres (in the video above),

I don’t believe anything. Ya know it’s not over till it’s over. So I just feel like you never know. Yes they’ve announced it’s the last season next year, but it’s ya know. After the finale this week and you feel that moment. You remember why you love this show.

It just gives opportunity where these is none. Ya know, and it’s about dreams. And it’s about everything that America is about.  Ya know and I just I don’t know. They say it’s the last year, but I don’t know. You never know.

So maybe the end isn’t really nigh?

As for whether or not she’s single…Lopez remained coy, preferred not to get into it and basically said that if and when something was going down, she would tell. Earlier this week, we reported that her and Smart, 28, were indeed back together (after months of speculation, and even after they were photographed kissing).

She explained to Degeneres, “…I don’t lie. I say what my truth is. Whatever anybody else wants to perceive about me hanging out with people or other people or different people. It doesn’t  matter. I know the truth,” adding, “Have you ever been at a point in your life where you don’t know? Like you’re not sure about things? Well, that’s all. I am not sure about anything.”

Lopez also reminded everyone, “I’m a grown woman,” they’re both on the same page, she’s just having fun and “I am me.”

Can’t argue with that.

As for the question of more kids (Lopez has two children, Max and Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony), see her response in the video below.

J. Lo also performed a medley of her greatest hits, including “If You Had My Love,” “Love Don’t Cost a Thing,” “Jenny From the Block,” “Get Right,” and “On the Floor,” all while showing off her superior dance skills.
