Leonardo DiCaprio’s Mom Won a Chanel Handbag Over Paris Hilton at Cannes

Cannes Film Festival Puts a Foot Down on Wearing Flat Shoes
Cannes Film Festival is getting stomped for denying entry into red carpet screenings for women wearing flat-heeled shoes.

Ladies first.

Leonardo DiCaprio shelled out $13,620 for a Chanel Neoprene purse for his mom at a Cannes Film Festival charity auction.

The coveted item up for grabs at the Heart Fund’s Generous People Dinner Gala auction was a Chanel bag embroidered with flowers on the Croisette similar to the one featured in this photo.

DiCaprio’s bid of 10,000 euros was more than competing bidder Paris Hilton was willing to throw down, so the designer bag was wrapped up for his mom, Irmelin. The Wolf of Wall Street was later outbid on two other items including a vacation at a select luxury Nikki Beach Worldwide resort.

A brief pause for Steve Buscemi to play the world’s saddest song on a tiny violin to mourn DiCaprio’s first world loss.

The event was attended by other celebs including Akon and featured a performance by Mos Def.

The Heart Fund sponsors cardiovascular care for impoverished children worldwide, this year’s goal being a plane equipped to perform mobile surgeries. The financing for their airborne ambulance was achieved thanks to one benefactor’s donation of $6.8 million dollars.
