Rumer Willis Wins ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 20
She dedicated the gold Mirrorball Trophy to those with low self-esteem, telling Us Weekly,
Other than for Val and myself, that is who this mirrorball is for. You know, I hope that it stands for all of that and for anyone who didn’t think that they deserved to do something, or couldn’t do something, or wasn’t capable. That is who I think that [this trophy] is for.
Willis also posted her gratitude to Chmerkovskiy on Instagram, writing: “@iamvalc words cannot describe the the gratitude, love and appreciation I have for you and this incredible journey we have been on the past 3 months. Thank you for your courage, support, friendship, loyalty, humor, drive, passion, your unconditionally support and belief in me not only as a person but as a dancer. You are truly one of a kind and I am honored to call you my friend and partner. This has been the most incredible experience of my entire life and I wouldn’t want to share it with any one else but you. I am so proud of us. #teamValenrue”
On taking part in DWTS, Willis added to Us, “
I feel like I’m a completely different person than the person that he met. He kept asking if I really wanted to do this. [But now, to be] able to stand proudly and put your whole self on the dance floor, and just show who you are and have such a positive response. To see how many people came up to us and were so excited for us — that we won — I think speaks volumes.
Chmerkovskiy gushed about Willis, adding, “I don’t think anybody looked at Rumer and thought this a future mirrorball champion until she came out here and proved everybody wrong. And I feel like everybody has that power in them – just find the courage to go out there and do it. Mother Demi posted this adorable family pic to Twitter, writing: “A Family Affair!!! Filled with love pride and awe for @TheRue & @iamValC #TeamValenRue”
Meanwhile, father Bruce told FOX411 backstage, he’s “as proud as you can be.”
