Katy Perry Set to Release New Album by 2016

Thank goodness!

There’s reportedly going to be a new Katy Perry album released by 2016. Could this mean we will potentially have at least one brand new Perry jam just in time for summer…?

According to Idolator, Perry’s manager Steven Jensen let slip some details of the Prism follow-up at a music and entertainment conference in Singapore, saying “She plans to release her next album by 2016.”

This news is somewhat surprising, since Perry is still on her Prismatic World Tour, which doesn’t conclude until October 2015.

Idolator further notes that Perry told the AP back in February she was planning to take some time off.

She explained,

I also think it’s important for me to maybe start reinventing myself. Because I can’t keep topping myself because I’ll just combust at some point. You can’t keep topping yourself when you’re at such a height. There’s only one Mount Everest and once you’ve reached it, it’s like where do you go from there? You’ve just got to sail somewhere else.

In addition to reinventing herself, she said she plans to “craft songs about ‘real life experiences.’”

Nevertheless, Perry’s Prism came three years after Teenage Dream, so maybe she’s wasting no time at all this time around.

So is Jensen pulling all of our legs? Let’s hope not.
