Reese Witherspoon to Play Tinker Bell in Live-Action Disney Film ‘Tink’
How perfect is this casting?
The Hollywood Reporter reports that the Oscar-winning actress, who will also be producing the film, is confirmed to play Peter’s sidekick.
While Tinker Bell is a more minor (and nonspeaking) character in J.M. Barrie’s original Peter Pan story, THR reports “this Tinker Bell tale is conceived as ‘the story you don’t know,’ and will offer a new perspective on the character.”
While the details are scarce this early on, “insiders say it will play with the idea and the timeline of the well-known Peter Pan narrative.”
THR also notes that “Peter Pan’s fairy companion has typically been portrayed as a temperamental character who can become dangerously jealous due to her unrequited love for the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up.”
So, Witherspoon’s charm, wit and sass is sure to make her more or less the best Tinker Bell ever.
Disney’s current fad of turning the beloved classics into film continues with Tink, joining upcoming projects like Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson (due out March 2017), Pinocchio, Mulan, The Jungle Book (coming in 2016), and many more.
