Mariah Carey Says ‘American Idol’ Was the ‘Worst Experience of My Life’

Mariah Carey doesn’t have a lot of nice things to say about her brief stint on American Idol.

Some two years after the show made Candice Glover the Season 12 winner, Carey is speaking out about the time she called Idol home for one whole season.

“That was the worst experience of my life,” she said on Thursday (May 28, 2015) on the Kyle and Jackie O show on Australia’s KIIS FM.

“I’m not going to get into what it was but let’s just say I don’t think they had any intentions for us to have a good experience during the show… pinning two females against each other wasn’t cool,” she added on her long-rumored behind-the-scenes feud with fellow judge Nicki Minaj.

“It should’ve been about the contestants instead of a nonexistent feud that turned into even more ridiculousness. I would never want to be involved with it again but everyone else can like it.”

Carey, who recently kicked off a Las Vegas residency at the coveted Planet Hollywood (yes, Britney SpearsPlanet Hollywood), also thinks Idol is “boring and so fake.”

“I’m sorry, I just think it’s… when I say it’s fake… I mean it’s just like you have to make up things to say about people,” she said. “Half the time, the performances are good. You’d just be like, ‘It was good’ and you feel like ending it there. ‘It was really good.’”

So Ryan Seacrest, if you’re reading this, maybe leave the Elusive Chanteuse out of any plans you may have for an Idol judge reunion on the next and final season of your show.
