WATCH: Jon Stewart Slams the Media’s Focus on Caitlyn Jenner’s “Comparative F*ckability”
Jon Stewart joined in on the parade of welcoming Caitlyn Jenner into the public eye. However, the Daily Show host had a few words to say in regards to his peer’s sexualized focus on Jenner’s physical appearance as a female.
Stewart commended the Olympian’s bravery for publicizing her transition despite being accustomed to cruel media scrutiny as a “celebrity”. He lightly applauded the media’s support that followed Jenner’s Vanity Fair cover, but noted its retroactive impact on feminism when limited to commentary on her figure.
It’s really heartening to see that everyone is willing to not only accept Caitlyn Jenner as a woman, but to waste no time in treating her like a woman. You see, Caitlyn, when you were a man we could talk about your athleticism, your business acumen. Now you’re a woman, and your looks are the only thing we care about. Which brings us to phase two of your transition: your ‘comparative f-ckability.
A collage of media coverage evaluating her “hot” appearance trailed Stewart’s claims.
The host wryly punctuated his reflection, “Caitlyn Jenner, congratulations. Welcome to being a woman in America.”
