WATCH: Amy Schumer’s Hilarious, Honest, and Empowering Glamour Awards Acceptance Speech
Amy Schumer kills it again.
Schumer was the recipient of the Trailblazer Award at the 2015 Glamour Women of the Year awards on Tuesday night, giving an excellent and empowering NSFW speech that’ll make you giggle throughout.
She used her time on stage to not only give thanks to Glamour for telling her “smile…just be you,” but to also candidly and inspirationally state, “I told that story just about, like, losing your self-esteem and then finding it. And no, I’m not going to apologize for who I am and I’m going to actually love the skin that I’m in. I’m not gonna be striving for some other version of myself.”
Schumer opened with one of her best lines of the night, “I’m probably like 160 pounds right now, and I can catch a dick whenever I want. That’s the truth, it’s not a problem.”
She also commented on how she often makes fun of women’s magazines in her sketches and stand-up comedy routines (as in the video below), saying “I make fun of women’s magazines a lot because they’re just great fodder and some of them make you feel bad for just being born with a pu**y…”
But at least with Glamour, she was told to be herself rather than some character version of a female comic, explaining:
Every comic in the room knows that when a female comic has a photo shoot, they’re like, “Oh, can we hold this plastic dick over your head? We’re gonna shoot actual cum out of it onto your head.” They’re like, “You’re gonna be a cum dumpster,” and you’re like, “Thank you for having me!” But Glamour is the first magazine that was just like, “Smile!”
Let Schumer make you day and watch her speech in the video above.
