Taylor Swift Donates $15K to Help Family Pay Their Medical Bills
Taylor Swift is an angel, and we have proof.
The 25-year-old just donated $15K to help a Texas family pay their medical bills. How does she know this family? She doesn’t, but the story behind her donation is pretty incredible.
On Saturday (June 6, 2015), a volunteer firefighter named Aaron VanRiper was on duty when a 911 call came in. A head-on collision between a car and a pickup truck in Riverside, Texas. VanRiper responded to the call, and when he got to the scene he discovered that the victims were his wife, Amber VanRiper, and his son, Jonathan VanRiper.
The family was transported to a Houston hospital, and 7-year-old Jonathan had to have surgery for his broken leg and arm. He has been released from the hospital.
As a result of the crash, Amber had a broken pelvis and underwent a nine-hour surgery on Sunday. She’s still in recovery but Aaron revealed on his Facebook on Monday that she whispered “I love you” to him.
The family doesn’t have medical insurance and will be facing a lot of medical bills. To show their love and support, the family friends set up a GoFundMe page to have people donate any amount they could to help the VanRipers.
How did Swift get involved? She actually saw a BuzzFeed News tweet about the story and favorited it. Then, she made a donation, because she’s amazing.
