‘Fashion Police’ Will Return in August With Melissa Rivers as New Co-Host

Fashion Police fans, rejoice. After going on hiatus in MarchJoan Rivers’ legacy will be returning to the air at the end of this summer, with her daughter Melissa on board as a new co-host.

With both Rivers’ former replacement Kathy Griffin and original Fashion Police co-host Kelly Osbourne out after dramatic exits and a tumultuous couple of months, who better to fill the late Joan Rivers’ (R.I.P.) seat than her daughter?

Co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski will also be returning.

Variety exclusively reveals that Fashion Police will return to E! on August 31st to cover the MTV Video Music Awards, and will run for six episodes until the end of the year.

Variety does note the formatting of the show will slightly change: “The new format will also include two rotating chairs, featuring two different celebrity guests with the trio each episode.”

Jeff Olde, exec VP of programming and development for E!, said on Wednesday,

As an executive producer since the beginning, Melissa helped shape Fashion Police into an iconic TV series that couples fashion with comedy. We are pleased to now also feature Melissa in front of the Fashion Police cameras, as she joins returning panelists Giuliana and Brad. And with the added flavor of rotating panelists, the show will deliver fresh, different and unpredictable fashion reviews with each new episode.

Melissa commented, “I’m very excited to be given the opportunity to continue to work with my E! and Fashion Police family.”

Is this officially the beginning of the end of Fashion Police’s era? Or did that beginning already commence with Rancic’s shady, racist remarks about Zendaya’s dreadlocks at the 2015 Oscars and subsequent apology?

Joan Rivers passed away less than a year ago on September 4, 2014.
