WATCH: The Ladies of ‘OITNB’ Shut Down Sexist Interviewer
The ladies of Orange is the New Black are giving us another reason to adore them.
During a recent Netflix junket for the show’s new season, Uzo Aduba, Natasha Lyonne and Samira Wiley faced some blatantly sexist questions from a Brazilian comedian named Rafael Cortez — which they completely shut down, almost immediately.
Not only did he suggest to Aduba that the series needed a macho man in the jail with them to do “things that just one guy can be able to do,” he then proceeded to ask her if he could show her his muscles. Her response? Simply, “No.”
But things only got worse when he began quizzing Lyonne and Wiley on how all the “pretty girls” deal with catfights on set.
Wiley replied stoically, “I think there are some stereotypes maybe that women are very catty on set with each other, but that doesn’t really happen on our set.”
“I feel like it’s accidentally maybe a little bit misogynistic,” Lyonne added, before going on to rightfully mock Cortez’s focus on beauty rather than the cast’s talent and abilities to succeed at their career.
