WATCH: 14-Year-Old Amy Winehouse Sings ‘Happy Birthday’ in New ‘Amy’ Clip

This home video of Amy Winehouse crooning her friends will give you irreparable chills.

Winehouse breathes soul into a humble “Happy Birthday” in this new clip featured above from Amy, the controversial documentary set to chronicle the intricacies of her career and life.

This candid moment was filmed in Southgate, North London when Winehouse was 14 years old. Birthday girl Lauren Gilbert introduces the singer’s sultry performance and Winehouse, cradling her lollipop like a cigarette, transcends the small foyer into a smoky jazz club.

A new trailer for Amy was released last month at Cannes Film Festival. Winehouse’s family has detached themselves from the film, criticizing Asif Kapadia’s feature for being “unbalanced” and “misleading”.

“The narrative is formed by the testimony of a narrow sample of Amy’s associates, many of whom had nothing to do with her in the last years of her life,” the family told People. “Counter views expressed to the filmmakers did not make the final cut.”

Amy will premiere in theaters on July 3, 2015.
