It wasn’t a goodbye from the hunky 26-year-old – it was a see you later, Bachelor Nation… E! News reports that multiple sources have confirmed producers chose Higgins as the season 20 Bachelor.

The third runner up has yet to finalize his contract, but insiders say he is “pretty much a lock.” His sincerity, looks and overall sexiness garnered lots of fans, making him the perfect fit for the Bachelor – not to mention  the show’s recent history of casting third runner ups: Bristowe, Chris Soules and Andi Dorfman.

However, Higgins told ET: “Those conversations haven’t even happened yet!” But if he were presented with the opportunity, he added, “The opportunity is a great one and from a 30,000 foot view I would have to consider it.”

We’re guessing he’s playing coy as ABC will not confirm anything until after the conclusion of the current Bachelorette season… But who knows!

Meanwhile, Higgins showed his amazing character again after being cut from The Bachelorette on Monday night, sending Bristowe a thoughtful tweet despite not getting a final rose:

Bristowe reciprocated the feeling writing back, “So much respect for you.”
