‘Godfather’ Actor, Alex Rocco Dies at 79

Celebrity Deaths of 2014
We reflect back on Hollywood's celebs we tragically lost in 2014.

Alex Rocco, best known for his role as Moe Greene in The Godfather, has died at age 79.

Rocco died Saturday, his daughter, Jennifer, announced on Facebook. No other details of his death were immediately available. “I will see you but not for a while…,” she wrote in the announcement.

Besides The Godfather, Rocco also voiced Simpsons studio head Roger Meyers Jr., played Jennifer Lopez’s father in the Wedding Planner, and won an Emmy Award in 1990 for his role as a Hollywood agent in Jon Cryer comedy The Famous Teddy Z.

However, of all the world in his carer, Rocco credits his part in The Godfather with making him famous. “Every time I ever hear the theme from The Godfather, I always say, ‘Thank you, God,’” he said in a 2012 interview with the A.V. Club.

Our thoughts are with Rocco’s friends and family. RIP.
