Katy Perry Reacts to Taylor Swift Accusing Nicki Minaj of Pitting Women Against Each Other

Nicki Minaj Calls Out MTV
Her anaconda don't want none unless you've got a VMA nomination.

#TeamNicki or #TeamTaylor?

It seems even Hollywood is weighing in on the Twitter exchange between Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift that went down late Tuesday (July 21, 2015).

It all began when Minaj started tweeting about her frustrations with MTV and mainstream media after her record-breaking music video for “Anaconda” failed to earn a Video of the Year nomination. After arguing that black female entertainers are rarely recognized and rewarded for their craft, Swift, who presumably took Minaj’s comments personally, chimed in and accused the rapper of pitting “women against each other” and that perhaps “one of the men” eked her out of the competition instead.

Katy Perry took to Twitter to give her two cents. While she didn’t call Swift out by name, she did call out the irony of the songstress shaming Minaj for allegedly instigating a girl-on-girl spat when her video for “Bad Blood,” a song supposedly about her feud with Perry, is nominated for Video of the Year.

Celebrities like Aaron Paul and Tinashe also jumped in on the conversation. While many just wanted the two artists to play nice, some noted that what Minaj was trying to point out wasn’t entirely incorrect.

(In his column, Morgan called Minaj a “stroppy little piece of work.”)
