Jake Gyllenhaal Talks Taylor Swift Playing During His ‘GMA’ Interview, Says He’s Been in Love ‘Twice’

Though the internet was pretty offended that Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” was playing during his introduction on Good Morning America, Jake Gyllenhaal didn’t even know it was happening.

Taylor Swift was playing during Jake Gyllenhaal's introduction on 'GMA.'

The Southpaw actor admitted he was completely unaware of the music playing in the background, let alone the fact that it was his ex-girlfriend.

“First of all, I did not hear that,” Gyllenhaal explained. “When I’m doing an interview when you’re up at 5 a.m. and you can’t really make sense of words, you’re not thinking about the background music that’s playing behind you.”

Gyllenhaal admitted that he would have recognized the song had he been able to hear it, but he played coy when asked about the songs Swift has penned after dating him.

Stern couldn’t help himself from also noting that he wished Gyllenhaal would have ended up marrying Swift. However, the actor has a pretty clear definition of what it will mean to find “the one” and though he thinks TayTay is “beautiful,” it just wasn’t her.

“I think it’s hard for everybody,” he said about making the decision to get married. “But I also think at some point, you just decide to grow up, you know? If you find the right person… I believe in monogamy. I believe when you meet somebody right it will be right and it will stay that way.”

As for right now? Gyllenhaal remains out of love, though he does miss it.

“I love love, man,” he told Stern. “Are you kidding me?”

Stern continued prodding, “How many times in your life have you really been in love—really in love?”.

“Three times,” Gyllenhaal said before changing his answer: “Twice.”

Though he didn’t name names we’re pretty sure he is likely referencing his two long-term relationships with Kirsten Dunst (2002 – 2004) and Reese Witherspoon (2007 – 2009).

“Each time you were in love, something held you back from committing and get married,” Stern noted.

“Yeah,” Gyllenhaal admitted. “Me… I think I probably just got scared.”

Well, Jake, there are plenty of fish in the sea (cough cough Rachel McAdams cough).
