James Franco Wrote a Book About Lana Del Rey Because, When You Think About It, That Makes Perfect Sense

Peanut butter and jelly. Pork chops and applesauce. Iggy Azalea and flopping. Drinking alone and crying. James Franco and Lana Del Rey. Some things just go together, you know?

Via our very good friends at Stereogum, news has broken that Franco — actor, director, performance artist, annoying Instagram personality — co-authored a book with writer David Shields called Flip-Side: Real and Imaginary Conversations With Lana Del Rey. That’s right, James Franco is publishing a book on Lana Del Rey, musician, performance artist, and haver of controversial lips and opinions. It sounds stupid until you realize nothing has ever, in the history of pop culture or the world in general, made more sense.

Not much is known about Flip-Side, though we know it will be released March 15, 2016 (mark your calendars!) and that this is the book’s cover:

Franco and Del Rey have long been friendly with each other, having made appearances on each others’ Instagram feeds (the mark of true friendship in 2015). Franco even wrote a poem called “Shades of Cool” as a tribute to the “Shades of Cool” songstress.

Speaking of Del Rey, she has a new single out. It’s called “Honeymoon.” It’s good. It’s very her.
