5 Wonderful Things About Drake’s Latest Meek Mill Diss Song

What Started It All
Who you gonna call? Ghostwriter!

If you don’t know what to say, just say it in song. That’s exactly what Drake did in a new freestyle dropped early Wednesday morning.

The likely target of the track, “Back To Back,” is none other than Meek Mill, who was also the likely target of Drake’s “Charged Up,” released last weekend in response to Mill’s accusation that Drizzy used a ghostwriter.

For this latest serving of beef, we’d like to draw your attention to a few delicious things about “Back To Back.”

The cover.

The use of Toronto Blue Jays legend Joe Carter is anything but an accident. For Jays fans, this is one of the most memorable moments in franchise history — when Carter hit a walk-off (!) home run to beat the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 6 of the 1993 World Series and take home baseball’s most coveted prize.

Mill is from Philly.

This line about Mill being on his girlfriend’s tour.

“You love her, then you gotta give the world to her / Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour?”

Yes, we’ve seen the PDA between Minaj and Mill on the Pinkprint Tour. But technically, Mill is an opening act (along with Rae Sremmurd, Tinashe and Dej Loaf). This is not Mill’s tour.

The timing of “Back To Back.”

Speaking of the Pinkprint Tour, Minaj and company played in Drake’s hometown on Tuesday night, just hours before the release of the Canadian rapper’s freestyle.

It was an absolute pleasure. #TORONTO #ThePinkprintTOUR ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Coincidence? We think not.

No introduction was necessary for the track, because we’ve all been following this case of beef for far too long. Still, Drake made good use of his time on Instagram when he shared the song and inserted a classic emoji — because revenge (or in this case, a diss) is a dish best served cold. (Or, he was eating an expensive cut of steak and drinking fancy champagne while gramming).

All these memes.

Naturally, the internet couldn’t handle Drake’s latest musical shot at Mill. Here’s just a sampling of the gems that were created at office desks across the country.

We saved the best for last.

No word on whether or not Mill will liken Drake’s latest to body moisturizer again.
