Jimmy Kimmel Criticizes ‘A-Hole’ Dentist for Killing Cecil the Lion: ‘That’s Just Vomitous’

Jimmy Kimmel's Emoji Recap
Let Jimmy explain Taylor vs. Nicki in emoji form.

Jimmy Kimmel took a break from the jokes and spoke out on the tragic death of Cecil the Lion on Tuesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.

“I’m honestly curious to know why a human being would feel compelled to do that? How is that fun?” Kimmel said in his monologue, referring to Walter Palmer, the American dentist who killed Cecil in Zimbabwe earlier this month.

The comedian and talk show host also took a stab at Bill Cosby in the emotionally charged bit.

“Is it that difficult for you to get an erection that you need to kill things that are stronger [than you]? If that’s the case, they have a pill for that… Just stay home and swallow it and you save yourself a lifetime of being the most hated man in America who never advertised Jello pudding on television.”

Palmer, whose practice in Bloomington, MN has since been shut down, lured 13-year-old Cecil out of his habitat in Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park and shot the cat with a bow and arrow. Cecil would survive for some 40 more hours before being killed with a gun, then skinned and decapitated under Palmer’s watch. The hunters also tried to destroy the GPS Cecil was wearing as part of a long term research with Oxford’s Wildlife Conservation Research Unit.

Kimmel, who choked up while promoting the Oxford organization that studied Cecil during his lifetime, also likened Palmer’s past hunts to killing “like half of Noah’s ark.”

Still, a witch hunt is not the answer, according to Kimmel.

“If you want to make this into a positive… make a donation, support them [WildCRU]. At the very least. Maybe we can show the world that not all Americans are like this jackhole, this ‘top dentist’ here.”

Kimmel is the latest celebrity to comment on Cecil’s heartbreaking ending, joining the likes of Ricky Gervais, Olivia Wilde, and Cara Delevingne.
