Some People Are Saying That Beyoncé Is Doing an NBC Live Musical

Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda Been a Single

Finally, a live telecast worth watching…

It’s been a while since we’ve heard a good Beyoncé rumor, so let’s all obsess over the latest buzz that the Queen of Everything might be headed to NBC live musical territory.

E! reports that the 33-year-old megastar has been in talks to play Glinda the Good Witch in the network’s upcoming live production of The Wiz, which tells the story of The Wizard of Oz but with an “African-American/multicultural twist.” If things go well for both parties, Queen Bey would be joining fellow music royalty, Mary J. Blige and Queen Latifah, who signed on earlier this week. Blige and Latifah will take on the roles of Evillene (the Wicked Witch of the West) and the Wizard, respectively.

If NBC can’t pull off N-Bey-C (sorry, had to), E! sources say show runners are also considering Orange Is the New Black star Uzo Aduba for the role of Glinda.

Viewers were blessed with the talents of Allison Williams and Christopher Walken (and his wobbly dance moves) in Peter Pan last year, while Carrie Underwood channeled her inner Maria in The Sound of Music in 2013.

The Wiz, with or without Beyonce, will air live on NBC on Dec. 3.
