Some People Are Saying Britney Spears’ Conservatorship Might Last a Lifetime
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Britney Spears has been living under a conservatorship, a legal guardianship over one’s financial and/or personal affairs, for the past 7 1/2 years. Sources close to the pop star now tell TMZ that she may continue living with an advisor for the rest of her life.
After spiraling into a series of psychotic events in 2007, Spears’ father Jamie Spears instituted conservatorships over her financial, medical and legal decisions. This decision has since stabilized Britney’s mental health with the assistance of family doctors, allowing her to act as a successful parent while juggling a music career. The conservatorship over her finances helped the “Pretty Girls” singer accrue $14 million last year.
TMZ claims that this guardianship with “substantial day-to-day freedom to make her own decisions” will extend over her lifetime to avoid regression back into old habits.
