Love Is Dead: In Memoriam of Kermit and Miss Piggy’s Fizzled-Out ‘Muppets’ Flame

Miss Piggy and Kermit, the animal kingdom’s royal couple, announced their conscious uncoupling on Tuesday, August 4, 2015.

On the brink of embarking in a new chapter in their superstardom, Piggy and Kermit released a joint statement on their separate social media accounts to break the news to their relationship’s greatest supporters.

This is the couple’s explanation as it was posted on Miss Piggy’s Twitter account:

Tensions run high for the couple who is set to co-star this fall on ABC in The Muppets equivalent of 30 Rock that goes behind the scenes of Piggy’s late night talk show, for which Kermit is the executive producer. However, it appears that the sassy swine and her once amphibious amour are coping just fine.

Miss Piggy, the alleged relationship assassin as per Kermit’s Facebook post, kept her lips pursed during the show’s promotional appearance at the Television Critics Association press tour with Kermie seated at the opposite end of the banquet table. She remained focused on her career, asserting that the mockumentary series will be “great for moi’s stardom”.

Her few words on the split were cryptic with a signature egotistical Piggy punch.

“Dating moi is like flying close to the sun.”

And who said that pigs couldn’t fly?

Kermit on the other hand is already seeing new people — if your open-mindedness encompasses pigs as “people”. Though he previously expressed contentment in his new pig in a blanket, Denise (the network’s marketing head on Miss Piggy’s show) at Comic Con 2015, one celeb is shamelessly chomping at the bit to get a taste of Kermit’s tender frog legs.

Kermit, ever the gentleman, remained faithful to his new fling despite Emmy Rossum’s Twitter temptation.

Could this split be the demise of love as we know it or, at the end of the day, is a Prince Charming nothing more than just a frog once pecked by a pig?
