Gigi Hadid and Taylor Swift Want Their #Squad to Be Known for Kindness
In a recent interview with Who What Wear, the 20-year-old model opens up about her squad, which includes major celebs likes Swift, Kendall Jenner, Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne and Selena Gomez, to name a few.
Hadid says she’s excited to be part of a power clique because she remembers growing up and being inspired by those types of “It Girl” friendships in the past.
“The pictures of them at events together, backstage together, are so iconic and it’s really cool now that I feel there’s a group of girls again that are gonna create that,” she explains. “Like the whole ‘squad goals’ thing is a very big thing right now. I feel like as models, we’re kind of getting to experience what they did.”
However, Hadid’s group of friends is stepping it up a notch, parting ways from Hollywood drama and seeking friendships based upon lifting each other up and making each other better.
In fact, a “big conversation” the group had before filming for Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video was how they need to continue to support one another.
“For [Swift] it was really a way to show that she supports her friends so much and that we support her back,” Hadid said. “We all took time out of our schedules to be there and she wanted to make us look hot and powerful. It was a big, amazing thing to be a part of.”
But more than encouraging each other professionally, they also hope to be role models for other young women building relationships and friendships.
“We want to be known as the group of girls that are known for our kindness, rather than our cattiness,” Hadid says.
