Andrew Garfield Responds to Tom Holland’s Casting as New Spider-Man

Bye, Andrew Garfield!
Tom Holland cast as new Spider-Man.

Andrew Garfield is taking the high road.

Peter Parker will have a new face on the big screen in 2016, and Garfield is perfectly okay with that. In fact, he’s actually looking forward to seeing what the next Spider-Man, Tom Holland, will bring to the role.

The former Amazing Spider-Man star attended the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Grants Banquet on Thursday (Aug. 13, 2015), sporting  a moustache and a man bun.

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the actor expressed excitement not only for the casting, but also to enjoy the film as a fan.

It feels lovely, especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor. He was in this movie The Impossible and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor, and [he’s] a dancer, so his body’s the right [form]…I’m just really excited to just be a fan again as opposed to bearing the weight of it.

We will get to see Holland debut as Spider-Man in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. The standalone Spider-Man film is expected to be released in 2017 with Jon Watts directing the film.
