Selena Gomez Calls Out Sunday Times’ Style Magazine for Justin Bieber Headline

Selena Gomez is calling out the Sunday TimesStyle magazine for publishing a cover story about her that focuses largely on her relationship with ex Justin Beiber.

Amongst several Bieber-related quotes, Gomez originally told the magazine, “I didn’t think I was doing anything bad by falling in love. There’s such an emphasis on people being the perfect thing and then destroying them because it’s good press. Throw in the fact that you are a teenager — it makes it more difficult.”

In her interview, she also touched upon her decision to wear a purity ring, and subsequently take it off after she started dating the Biebs.

Last night, the 23-year-old shared her disappointment over the shape the interview took on Twitter:

In other words, the “Good for You” singer would like everyone to stop obsessing over her relationships and her exes (specifically Bieber), and talk about her because of her music. One can imagine how disappointing it must be to have the same tired story written about you since you were 16. After all, Gomez is a fierce and independent woman.

Suki Waterhouse likewise recently called out the Sunday Times’ Style magazine for publishing a story with a headline that focused on her ex, Bradley Cooper.

Gomez’s upcoming album Revival is expected to be released on October 9.
