We’re Swooning Over Jake Gyllenhaal in L’Uomo Vogue

The ever-dapper and swoonworthy Jake Gyllenhaal is on the cover of Italy’s L’Uomo Vogue this month, fully-bearded in all his glory.

Gyllenhaal has just finished up promotion for Southpaw, and is gearing up for his next film Everest, directed by Baltasar Kormákur.

Gyllenhaal plays expedition group leader Scott Fischer in the true story of the 1996 Mount Everest disaster, which ultimately led to the deaths of several climbers.

On playing this role, Gyllenhaal told L’Uomo Vogue,

Bringing a real person to the screen is a huge responsibility. I tried to give Fischer the most realistic interpretation possible. I read, watched, listened to any document, video and interview about him. I spoke with many people who had known him, to the point where I felt I knew him for real, thanks above all to the recollections of his children.

Climbing Everest was my childhood dream, so shooting the film in the Dolomites was a wonderful experience, living in contact with the elements is exhilarating. Plus Baltasar is a director who’s easy to tune into, thanks to his background as an actor he instinctively knows how to put you in a position to give the best of yourself.

Everest will world premiere at the 72nd Venice Film Festival on September 2, 2015, and comes out in theaters on September 25, 2015.

The film also stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley, and Emily Watson.
