Do we smell another Oscar?

It’s almost that time of the year, when good movies start playing in the theaters again. Now that your movie appetite has been teased with the new Macbeth trailer, released earlier today, here’s another treat of a trailer from Working Title’s The Danish Girl.

The film, directed by Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech), stars Eddie Redmayne as transgender painter Lili Elbe (formerly Einar Wegener), one of the first people to receive sex reassignment surgery in the 1930s.

Alicia Vikander plays Lili’s wife Gerda, who comes to accept and support Lili throughout the process. Ben Whishaw and Amber Heard also star in the film.

Earlier this summer, Redmayne opened up to Out Magazine about the movie role.

“I felt like, I’m being given this extraordinary experience of being able to play this woman, but with that comes this responsibility of not only educating myself but hopefully using that to educate [an audience],” he told the publication.

“Gosh, it’s delicate. And complicated.”

Redmayne took home the Academy Award for Best Actor for playing Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything in February.
