Justin Bieber Explains Why He Cried at VMAs, Reveals New Album Release Date
Remember when Justin Bieber cried at the VMAs?
The singer appeared on Wednesday (Sept. 2, 2015) night’s Tonight Show, where he spoke with Jimmy Fallon about his emotional performance. In case you missed it, at the end of his performance at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, Bieber broke down in tears.
Here’s the real reason why he cried (in his own words).
It was just so overwhelming for me. Everything. Just the performance. I missed some cues so I was little disappointed at that and just everyone and just their support. I just honestly — let me breathe for a second — I wasn’t expecting them to support me in the way they did.
Last time I think I was at the VMAs, or last time I was at an awards show, I was booed. I think it’s just like, I worked so hard at this album. I’ve worked so hard at becoming the man I want to become, and then stepping into situations, you can’t help but feel judged. So I was just feeling judged and wanting to win so badly and just wanting to do what I love so badly that I just put everything on the line.
And I think that was what was so special about the emotional moment at the end. It was authentic. It was real. I was really just wanting it so bad.
Well that makes sense. He also acknowledged his mistakes from the past and basically said his bad behavior stemmed from the “knuckleheads” around him.
Not only is “What Do You Mean?” is currently No. 1 on Billboard charts, but his upcoming album will be released Nov. 13. Pretty good comeback so far, don’t you think? Watch Bieber on the Tonight Show below.
