WATCH: Caitlyn Jenner’s Mom Says She’s ‘Got So Much to Learn’ About Transgender Women
Best mom ever?
In the latest preview for Sunday night’s episode of I Am Cait, Caitlyn Jenner throws a dinner party for her family — including her siblings and their mother, Esther Jenner — and a group of transgender women. There, the Olympian’s mama tries to learn more about the LBGT community by speaking candidly with Caitlyn’s friends on the matter.
Needless to say, it’s all really heart-warming.
“I never thought the day would come that actually I would be with my two sisters, a bunch of trans women and my 89-year-old mother, and everyone having a good time,” Caitlyn gushes. “It’s just a good, comfortable feeling.”
As the night goes on, Esther leans over to Caitlyn’s pal Candis Cayne and inquires how long, as Caitlyn puts it, she’s gone “full-time.” She also asks another fellow guest when did she “realize she felt differently” about herself.
“I got so much to learn,” says Esther after hearing all their stories.
“I think for the first half of our lives our parents teach us,” says Caitlyn’s friend Zackary tells the matriarch, “and then we teach our parents.”
Esther previously expressed how proud she was of Caitlyn coming out with her transition news. During her daughter’s 20/20 special with Diane Sawyer, Esther told the gold medalist, “I want you to be happy, and I love you. I was very proud of you when you stood on that podium in Montreal — I never thought I could be more proud of you, but I’m learning I can be.”
