Pink Clarifies MTV VMAs Comment: ‘I Have No Issue with Demi Lovato or Anyone Else’

In fact, Pink forgot Demi Lovato even performed.

Pink is taking a tiny step backwards after writing on her private Instagram account that some of the performances at this years’ MTV VMAs were “gross and embarrassing.”

Expressing her concern over the current state of the music industry, Pink commented, “I felt embarrassed and sad. And old. We’re getting old. But in all seriousness; I felt sad because music is supposed to inspire. It saved my life. This trash won’t save any kid’s life. In a world that is even scarier and with lives still worth saving, who will stand up and have soul? Disenfranchised to say the least. Let down by my industry and my peers.”

She then named which performances she thought were “dope” (Macklemore, Pharrell Williams, Justin Bieber “pre-sob fest”, The Weeknd, andTori Kelly), noting that the rest were “gross and embarrassing and hard for this aging pop star to believe”. The performers she left out were Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Iggy Azalea, Taylor Swift, and Nicki Minaj.

While she ultimately stands by what she said, Pink clarified last night (Sept. 3) and this morning that she just has a lot of opinions, and no intentions of starting a feud (especially since she didn’t remember Lovato had performed at the VMAs in the first place):

She picked up again this morning:

Pink then opted to share some words of wisdom to the Internet trolls/Lovatics still blasting her:

Lovatics, perhaps taking Pink’s comment about music saving lives to heart, immediately stood up for their idol, the 23-year-old singer. Lovato, who has done two stints in rehab for addiction, eating disorder, depression and self-harm, also responded to Pink’s alleged dig at her. She wrote on Twitter early this morning:

But as Pink said, she didn’t even remember that Lovato had performed, which is a backdoor way of apologizing if there ever was one.
