Could this be Sandra Bullock’s next ticket to the one they call Oscar?
Here is your first look at David Gordon Green’s Our Brand Is Crisis, based on the 2005 documentary of the same name. Bullock, who portrays a retired political consultant tasked with getting a Bolivian president re-elected, has not been in a major movie role since 2013’s Gravity.
Which brings us to the George Clooney factor: Mr. Clooney was originally supposed to play the part of the political consultant. But when Bullock took interest in the script, Clooney took a backseat and assumed the role of co-producer instead (along with BFF Grant Heslov).
Bullock tells Entertainment Weekly:
“[My role] is basically a female Karl Rove… she’s brilliant at the devious side of politics.”
Billy Bob Thornton, Anthony Mackie, and Zoe Kazan also star in the film, which will premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
