Jessica Simpson Says Marrying Nick Lachey Was One of Her ‘Biggest Money Mistakes’
The 35-year-old, who is now happily married to Eric Johnson, joked that marrying the former 98 Degrees singer was one of her biggest financial mistakes she’s made in her life during a recent interview on CNBC’s Closing Bell.
When host Kelly Evans asked the fashion mogul to name some of her biggest money mistakes, Simpson struggled to come up with an answer before blurting out something about her former relationship with Lachey.
“The biggest money mistakes? I don’t know. For some reason I thought of my first marriage!” Simpson said, laughing.
Evans replied, “That’s actually a common answer, believe it or not.”
Simpson and Lachey, 41, were married from 2002 to 2006. During that time, the couple starred in their own reality show, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, that centered around their domestic life.
In 2011, Lachey married Vanessa Minnillo. The duo are currently proud parents to son Camden, 2, and daughter Brooklyn, 8 months.
Meanwhile, Simpson has two kids — daughter Maxwell, 3, and son Ace, 2 — with Johnson.
“She and I don’t necessarily stay in each others lives,” Lachey told Dirty, Sexy, Funny host Jenny McCarthy in 2014. “I wouldn’t say it’s friends, and I wouldn’t say it’s enemies. There is just no contact. We both moved on with our lives… It’s not animosity, it’s not friendship, it’s just kind of nothing.”
