Chrissy Teigen Opens Up About Fertility Issues: John Legend and I Are ‘Having Trouble’

Chrissy Teigen Wants to Adopt
The model says she'd like a big family.

There’s a reason why Chrissy Teigen doesn’t have kids yet.

In an upcoming episode of FABLife, the model opens up about her fertility struggles on her new daytime talk show. Sitting down with fellow co-host Tyra Banks, the 29-year-old says having people constantly ask her about kids is starting to take a toll on her.

“I will say, honestly, John and I are having trouble,” Teigen confess, adding that she’s started seeing fertility doctors. “We would have kids five, six years ago if it’d happened … But my gosh, it’s been a process!”

Teigen, who previously said she’d like have “three or four” children of her own, adds that questions about her family plans are quite intrusive and should be retired by both the media and fans.

“So, anytime somebody asks me if I’m going to have kids, I’m like, ‘One day, you’re going to ask that to the wrong girl who’s really struggling, and it’s going to be really hurtful to them. And I hate that. So, I hate it,” she says. “Stop asking me!”

Similarly, Banks has also dealt with her fair share of questions about babies. Explaining that she’s always wanted kids later in life, the supermodel admits she’s exhausted with dodging the question these days.

“I am so tired of seeing on my social media, ‘Why don’t you have kids? Why don’t you have kids?’ You don’t know. You don’t know what I’m going through,” Banks, 41, says. “When I was 23 years old, I used to tell myself, ‘In three years I’m gonna have kids.’ Then I turned 24. ‘In three years I’m gonna have kids.’ And then just every single year I kept saying that. And then, after a while it’s like, OK, now I want to—and it’s not so easy.”

Previously, Teigen spoke about her plans to expand her family with John Legend, telling DuJour in May that they’re ready to “have some babies” after her husband finishes his next album.

“We want a lot of kids,” she said at the time, adding that she’d also like to adopt. “I feel like sometimes when people give birth, they give birth to a tiny part of their brain. Whatever they thought they would be goes out the window and they kind of lose their minds … I am 1,000 percent not going to have an Instagram account for my baby. It will not have a hashtag. If I have a hashtag for my baby, just kill me.”

The full episode of FABLife airs on Sept. 21.
