Elizabeth Banks May Be Gearing Up to Direct a Charlie’s Angels Reboot

'Charlie's Angels' Canceled by ABC
So much for living on a prayer...

If you’ve been sitting around hoping for a Charlie’s Angels reboot, we’re about to make your day.

After ABC tried and failed to make a Charlie’s Angels television reboot in 2011, Elizabeth Banks could be coming along to restore our faith in humanity.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony is rebooting the franchise, and they want Banks to come on board to direct. She’s already set to produce the flick with her husband, Max Handelman, and now sources say she’s considering also directing.

It’s obvious why Sony wants the actress to direct. She already helped create box office gold when she directed Pitch Perfect 2, and her long and impressive career as an actress includes recent projects like The Hunger Games franchise, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, Magic Mike XXL, and more.

Charlie’s Angels first hit television back in 1976, starring Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith, and ran until 1981.

Then it hit the big screen in 2000 with Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore playing the leads, with a sequel in 2003.

So far, there’s no word yet on who could be starring in the upcoming reboot.

Who would you like to see play Charlie and his three angels?
