WATCH: ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 12 Trailer, Can They Survive Without McDreamy?

ABC Fall 2015 TV Premiere Dates Revealed
Find out when the rest of your favorite ABC shows will return.

Everything is about to change in the upcoming season of Grey’s Anatomy.

In just one week, the hit ABC show will kick off it’s first season without Patrick Dempsey. ICYMI (which we doubt), Dr. Derek Shepherd died at the end of season 11 and we’re still not over it. However, the show must go on, even though Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) says “everything has changed.”

The 21-second teaser gives us a look at Meredith lying alone in bed, while a demolition is taking place in her house. Dr. Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) also unexpectedly throws a punch at woman in red during the premiere episode.

Creator Shonda Rhimes promised that this season will be a much “lighter” season, but will people still tune in now that McDreamy is gone? Pompeo recently told EW that her character can carry the show without him:

It’s like, Annalise Keating carries the show, Olivia Pope carries the show. But somehow, Meredith Grey needs someone. Why can’t I just be the lead of the show the way Annalise and Olivia can? Why can’t I be on that poster by myself?

We think they’ll do just fine. The show just celebrated their 250th episode.

Congratulations to all of our #GreysAnatomy cast and crew on 250 episodes! #GreysAnatomy250 😍🎉💥
