Ryan Reynolds on His Best Friend Trying to Sell Photos of His Daughter: ‘It Was Like Death’
In the October issue of the magazine, the Deadpool actor discussed fatherhood, his love for Jennifer Lawrence, and the betrayal of his close friend who tried to sell private photos of his and Blake Lively’s daughter James.
It was like a death. It was like one of those devastating things to find out. It was like so kind of shocking. There isn’t really a conversation to have. It’s just, ‘Oh, well, now I’m never going to see you or talk to you again, unfortunately.’ That’s kind of how it worked out.
He was shocked to find out that a friend he’d grown up with, someone he knew for more than 25 years would do something like that. And it was all for money. However, he’s put it behind him and is focusing on his family and his career now.
Reynolds revealed his recently-discovered truths about fatherhood and how he’s learned that a lot of clichés are completely true. He basically says that he would walk through fire for his daughter (should we swoon now or later).
The 38-year-old also admits that he’s a fan of J. Law and her movies.
Interestingly, thank God, there’s more and more opportunities for women now than there was. Obviously there’s a pay gap and an age gap in Hollywood that’s kind of insane and at some point needs to be remedied, inch by inch or mile by mile. But, you know, Jennifer Lawrence, she’s a movie star. I personally would go see a movie based exclusively on the fact that she’s in it.
