‘The Big Short’ Trailer: Ryan Gosling and Company Have Funny Hair and Bet on the Economy
Out during the holidays, aka. the best time for movie watching at actual theaters, The Big Short is based on Michael Lewis’ 2010 book of the same name about the financial crisis we are all too familiar with. Do the words “housing bubble,” “bailout” or “recession” mean anything to you?
The film, directed by Funny or Die co-founder Adam McKay (Anchorman, Step Brothers, Eastbound & Down), stars a slew of famous people including Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Melissa Leo, Marisa Tomei, Hamish Linklater, Max Greenfield and yes, your fave Selena Gomez.
From the studio:
When four outsiders saw what the big banks, media and government refused to, the global collapse of the economy, they had an idea: The Big Short. Their bold investment leads them into the dark underbelly of modern banking where they must question everyone and everything. Based on the true story and best-selling book by Michael Lewis (The Blind Side, Moneyball), and directed by Adam Mckay (Anchorman, Step Brothers) The Big Short stars Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt. The Big Short opens in limited release on Dec. 11 and will open wide on Dec. 25. The pic will also have its world premiere at this year’s AFI Festival in Los Angeles in November.
