Selena Gomez Says She’s Getting Old: ‘Kids Don’t Even Know Who I Am’

At only 23, Selena Gomez thinks she’s old.

While promoting her new animated film, Hotel Transylvania 2, the singer told E! News that she’s feeling the sting of getting older. But considering she made her acting debut in Barney & Friends at the age of 7, it’s safe to say Gomez is a veteran in Hollywood.

You know kids don’t even know who I am anymore. It made me so sad [because] I was literally doing an interview with this little girl…and I was like, ‘You know, when I did the show I was on,’ and she goes, ‘What show?’ I was like, what’s happening? I’m getting old!

But Gomez believes that she’s definitely an old soul. She recently told Yahoo’s Bobbi Brown that even her mom thinks she was born in the wrong era. She is very mature for her age and absolutely speaks like someone who knows a thing or two about life. But, she does admit that being famous isn’t always easy.

I never intended my life to be this exposed. That wasn’t my goal. I wasn’t like, ‘I want to be super famous and known, and everybody needs to touch my life.’ I love my job. I work really hard at it. I just want it to be about what I love.

Now, the singer is busy promoting both her film and her new album, Revival, out Oct. 9. The music video for her latest single, “Same Old Love,” was released on Wednesday (Sept. 23, 2015), and people are excited.
