Mark Wahlberg to Pope Francis: ‘Please Forgive Me’ for Making ‘Ted’

Colbert Sings for Francis
He just wants to be His Holiness' friend.

Pope Francis’ first-ever visit to the United States included a few words from a pair of Hollywood’s most famous biceps.

On Saturday, Mark Wahlberg suited up to act as the emcee for the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia. His Holiness attended as talented folks like Aretha Franklin and Andrea Bocelli performed. Then Wahlberg delivered a little story about how one of the young singers revealed how much he loved Ted.

“I told him that was not appropriate for a boy of his age,” the 44-year-old actor assured Francis. “Holy Father please forgive me.”

There were light chuckles from the Pope, along with a roar of laughter from the crowd that included actor Jim Caviezel, who of course portrayed Jesus in 2004’s The Passion of the Christ.

Let’s hope Wahlberg also asked the Pope to forgive him for The Other Guys, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Broken City and other movies you probably haven’t heard of.
