Daniel Craig Discusses the Future of James Bond

Damian Lewis Is the 'Number One Choice' to Play Bond
Could Damian Lewis be taking over the iconic role of James Bond?

As the internet ponders who will be the next to play James Bond, Daniel Craig has something of his own to add to the conversation.

The actor sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss the highly anticipated upcoming 007 film, Spectre, and hinted at what’s next for James Bond.

One thing’s for sure: Craig has been a busy, busy guy. He’s been playing Bond since 2005 when he was contracted to fill the role as the secret agent in Casino RoyaleQuantum of Solace followed in 2008, and then Skyfall in 2011. Now that Spectre has wrapped, Craig says, “This movie has taken up two years of my life, and I just need a break. I need to get back to normal life. I need to reintroduce myself to my family who are not best pleased with me,” he said, and we really can’t blame the guy. Craig has one daughter from his previous marriage, and is currently married to Rachel Weisz, whom he wed in 2010.

“The idea of planning ahead — I’m not trying to be coy. People want an answer and I don’t have one,” he says.

“I can’t give you an honest answer at this point…It’s not that I’m trying to play hard to get. I’ve just given it no thought whatsoever,” he said.

Craig’s current contract has him booked to play Bond in one more film, and after that, who knows? At this point, he seems noncommittal.

Spectre hits theaters on Nov. 6.
