Lady Gaga: ‘Dateline’ and Horror Movies Relax Me
In case you didn’t know, now you know: in the way that a nice cup of tea is soothing for some people, slasher films are like a lullaby for Lady Gaga.
From HBO’s incredible documentary miniseries The Jinx, to Dateline and Snapped, which is about women who murder their husbands but make “ridiculous mistakes,” Gaga loves “the dichotomy of sex and horror at the same time” and finds “the art of darkness” fascinating, adding that she imagines she “would have been one of Hitchcock’s groupies.”
As for her acting debut on American Horror Story: Hotel, which premieres tonight on FX, Gaga says she worked really hard and committed herself to the role. Despite studying method acting for several years at the Strasberg Theatre in downtown New York when she was younger, Gaga explained that she was “really terrible at auditioning,” and when she couldn’t get a job, she decided to embark on her music career instead.
Thank goodness, ‘cuz look at her now.
Lady Gaga opened up about her AHS character The Countess, revealing what it’s like playing a narcissistic hemophiliac who’s addicted to drinking blood for the sake of her survival. She gushes about the world that Ryan Murphy has created with Hotel, and the amazing cast of actors she worked with.
Below, Gaga discusses her experience doing the icy Polar Ice Plunge with Kinney in Chicago, in which she actually wore her gorgeous engagement ring and her hair froze solid:
