The ‘Sherlock’ Victorian Christmas Special Trailer Is Here
It’s like Christmas in October!
Three months after the first footage of Sherlock’s upcoming Victorian special made its debut at San Diego Comic-Con, the folks behind the drama have released the trailer for the highly-anticipated episode.
In the freshly-released, minute-and-a-half clip, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman reprise their respective roles as the titular super sleuth and his sidekick, Dr. John Watson. The new trailer also has everything a diehard Sherlockian wants: the return of Freeman’s awful mustache, Cumberbatch’s much-derided Deerstalker hat, and old-timey garb as far as the eye can see.
According to show co-creator Steven Moffat, the one-off episode will be set in Victorian London, as opposed to contemporary time like it has been in the series, and will not affect the cliffhanger that viewers were left with at the end of Season 3.
“It’s still the same sense of humor, it’s still very much the show you know,” Moffat said during the series’ Comic-Con panel this year. “But it’s in the ‘correct’ era, which was unbelievably thrilling.”
The episode is slated to air in December.
