These are some powerful ladies.
Variety celebrated some of Hollywood’s most philanthropic and inspiring women at their ninth Power of Women event, presented by Lifetime.
Salma’s Chime for Change is a “global campaign to raise funds and awareness for girls and women around the world.” Kendrick supports The Trevor Project to help give hope to LGBT teens, and Paltrow’s support is behind L.A. Kitchen, which gives healthy food to those in need.
While speaking at the event, Gwyneth used her time to talk about the changing landscape for women in Hollywood. “When I was a young woman in Hollywood, if you were a woman focused on building your career, you were labeled ambitious, and that was a bad word,” she began. “Fear of how we are perceived seems to be waning and things are being brought to life. We are empowering each other. We are banding together to support each other. Yes, we suffer some slings and arrows along the way, not me obviously,” she joked. “I feel those slings and arrows fortify us.”
