Never-Before-Seen Robin Williams Outtakes as Genie on ‘Aladdin’

Remembering Robin
Looking back a year after Robin Williams' untimely passing.

To celebrate the anniversary of the release of Aladdin, Disney is re-releasing the animated classic with bonus footage, which includes outtakes of Robin Williams as the role of Genie.

It was way back in 1992 that the film was first released in theaters, winning two Oscars the following year. The role of the fast-talking, jokester Genie was one that was tailor made for Williams.

In fact, the film’s co-writer, John Musker explains that the role was written specifically in the hopes that Robin would agree to do it. Musker says:

Fortunately for us, he did, [but]we were totally walking down the plank. If he said no, we were in big trouble because the whole concept was built around Robin.

Keep an eye out for the re-release of Aladdin, which will be available in stores October 13.
