Tracy Morgan Makes His Return to Stand-Up Comedy, Twice

Knock a truly great comedian down once and they’ll stand-up, twice.

Tracy Morgan made his return to stand-up comedy not once, but twice on Monday, Oct. 12 in New York City. The 30 Rock actor, who was critically injured in an automotive collision last year, performed sets at the Comedy Cellar and then at The Stand in front of small audiences for the first time in 16 months. TMZ reports that he nailed both performances in preparation for his upcoming hosting gig on Saturday Night Live.

Former 30 Rock costar Judah Friedlander tweeted a photo after Morgan’s set at the New York Comedy Cellar.

Morgan made a surprise return to television at the end of the 2015 Emmy Awards in September, recalling the sentiments expressed by the awards’ 2014 host Jimmy Kimmel on behalf of the industry.

“Last year Jimmy Kimmel said on stage,’I’ll see you next year.’ Thanks to my doctors and beautiful wife, I’m here standing on my own two feet.”

And now, thrice over.
