Lady Gaga Slapped Her Fiancé Taylor Kinney When They First Met

Woman of the Year
Gaga named Billboard's 2015 Woman of the Year

In 1963, The Crystals released a song called “He Hit Me (and It Felt Like a Kiss).” In 2011, Lady Gaga hit her music video co-star (and not-yet boyfriend), Taylor Kinney, after he tried to sneak a kiss while the cameras were rolling. Art imitating art. The cycle continues.

While appearing on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, Kinney regaled the audience with the true tale of how their epic love began.

As you may know, the two met while filming Gaga’s “Yoü and I” music video in 2011. “Did you know when you met her that that was it?” Cohen asks the Chicago Fire actor.

“I remember, I got a treatment for this video,” Kinney says in the clip, below. “And I show up, I remember, I went up, and we’re rolling… and I kissed her. And it wasn’t… she didn’t expect it. And they cut, and she slapped me. And then, it was just awkward. And then the next take, I did it again. And she didn’t slap me.”

“We had a good time. I think there was chemistry,” Kinney adds. “We exchanged information, a few weeks went by, and we, you know, kept in touch. And that’s that.”

That’s that, indeed. Kinney proposed on Valentine’s Day earlier this year, and Gaga enthusiastically said yes. But don’t expect Kinney to spill any further details about the pair’s forthcoming nuptials, if only because, perhaps, no further details have been set.

“We’re so busy. We’ve been engaged for less than a year, so we’ve been talking about whether it’s New York, Los Angeles, destination place… so we don’t have an exact date yet.”

In other Gaga news, the singer-slash-actress is killing it (quite literally) on the new season of American Horror Story: Hotel, a show which, so far, depicts the kind of rough love Gaga apparently likes in real life, too.
